Re: Poldermol koopt, Poldermol verkoopt

Re: Poldermol koopt, Poldermol verkoopt
See below
The pension deficit issues
South Africa seems to be gaining momentum which should put the concerns to rest, but one other important part of why Norcros wasn’t really loved by the market was its pension deficit, which actually increased in the past financial year (due to the lower interest rates).
The total deficit increased from 56M GBP to 63M GBP due to a lower discount rate used (2.6% versus 3.55%), which caused the amount needed to cover the expected expenses to increase. That being said, the scheme has been closed for new entrants in 2013 which means the outstanding commitments only relate to current pensioners, and people who were in the scheme before 2013.
I don’t want to sound like a complete asshole, but the pension deficit issue will ‘solve’ itself as the average age of the pensioners is 77 years, and last year, 300 people were ‘removed’ from the scheme (undoubtedly related to older pensioners passing away and thus being removed from the defined benefits-scheme).
But I’m not worried about the pension deficit
Allow me to explain in three steps why the deficit shouldn’t worry you, even though the current deficit represents in excess of 50% of the current market capitalization.
Norcros is increasing its funding into the scheme.
The regulators have signed off on Norcros’ 10 year plan in 2016, which calls for Norcros to deposit 2.5M GBP per year in the scheme (up from 2.1M), adjusted for inflation. Technically, this would mean that by 2027, the pension deficit will have decreased from 63M GBP to 38M GBP which is already more manageable.
Increasing interest rates will wipe out the deficit
As I mentioned before, the deficit actually increased due to the low interest rates on the market. As soon as the benchmark interest rates are starting to increase itself, the deficit will be sharply reduced. According to Norcros’ estimates a 0.1% increase of the discount rate (which is related to the interest rate), the deficit would be reduced by 6.7M GBP.
Based on 1) and 2) alone, if the interest rate would increase by 0.5%, the deficit will be reduced to just 4.5M GBP by 2027.
The strong cash flows allow Norcros to make a large one-time payment – if necessary
As mentioned above, the annual free cash flow of 17M GBP should be sufficient to cover a large ine-time payment as well, considering Norcros’ net debt was just 23.2M GBP which is less than 0.8 times its EBITDA. So even if a larger one-time payment would be required (which I’m not expecting), Norcros has the financial capacity to do so as the dividend is costing the company less than 5M GBP per year.
The annual additional contribution of 2.5M GBP is up for review next year, and this amount could be increased or decreased. Considering the super-mature nature of the scheme, I think there’s a good shot at keeping the payments at the current 2.5M rate, especially if the interest rates continue to increase slightly.

Re: Poldermol koopt, Poldermol verkoopt

Shell zit bijna altijd in mijn portefeuille.

Re: Poldermol koopt, Poldermol verkoopt

Lijkt me onbegonnen werk?

Re: Poldermol koopt, Poldermol verkoopt
