A former top Pentagon spokesperson has slammed secretary of defense Pete Hegseth’s leadership of the department of defense, as pressure mounts on the US’s top military official following reports of a second Signal chatroom used to discuss sensitive military operations.

John Ullyot, who resigned last week after initially serving as Pentagon spokesperson, said in a opinion essay published by Politico on Sunday that the Pentagon has been overwhelmed by staff drama and turnover in the initial months of the second Trump administration.

Ullyot called the situation a “full-blown meltdown” that could cost Hegseth, a 44-year-old former Fox News host and National Guard officer, his job.

“It’s been a month of total chaos at the Pentagon. From leaks of sensitive operational plans to mass firings, the dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president — who deserves better from his senior leadership,” Ullyot wrote.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem fell victim to a thief while eating dinner at a downtown Washington, DC, restaurant Sunday night, two sources familiar with the incident, including a law enforcement source, told CNN.

The Secret Service, which provides security for Noem, reviewed security camera footage at the restaurant and saw an unknown white male wearing a medical mask steal her bag and leave the restaurant.

The thief got away with Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash, the law enforcement source said.

President Trump again called on Jerome Powell to cut interest rates after threatening to oust the Federal Reserve chairman last week.

"There can be a SLOWING of the economy unless Mr. Too Late, a major loser, lowers interest rates, NOW," the president posted on his social media website Truth Social Monday morning, saying that "'Preemptive Cuts' in Interest Rates are being called for by many."

The president pointed to how Europe has already lowered rates “seven times” and that Powell has always been "Too Late."

The president also downplayed concerns about inflation, saying energy costs and food prices are down. "There is virtually no inflation," he said in his post.

Trumps huidige tarieven van 145% voor China zijn maar klein bier ivm de tarieven die de producenten van zonnepanelen in Zuidoost-Azië te wachten staan.
De US heeft grote nood aan zonnepanelen en kan die zelf niet produceren. Gelukkig zijn er in Azië producenten die aan de US willen leveren.

US trade officials finalized steep tariff levels on most solar cells from Southeast Asia, a key step toward wrapping up a year-old trade case in which American manufacturers accused Chinese companies of flooding the market with unfairly cheap goods.

The case was brought last year by Korea’s Hanwha Qcells, Arizona-based First Solar Inc and several smaller producers seeking to protect billions of dollars in investments in US solar manufacturing.

The petitioner group, the American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee, accused big Chinese solar panel makers with factories in Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam of shipping panels priced below their cost of production and of receiving unfair subsidies that make American goods uncompetitive.

In order for the tariffs to be finalized, the International Trade Commission must vote in June on whether the industry was materially harmed by the dumped and subsidized imports.

The tariffs unveiled Monday vary widely depending on the company and country but are broadly higher than the preliminary duties announced late last year.

Combined dumping and countervailing duties on Jinko Solar products from Malaysia were among the lowest at 41.56%. Rival Trina Solar’s products from its operations in Thailand face tariffs of 375.19%.

Products from Cambodia would face duties of more than 3,500% because its producers elected not to cooperate with the US probe.

Amerikaanse bedrijven hebben onder bedreiging van Trump hun gelijkekansen beleid stopgezet. Universiteiten worden letterlijk bedreigd. Buitenlanders (ook Europeanen) worden aan de grens gearresteerd en voor weken vastgezet, zonder dat duidelijk is waarom. Smart phones en PCs kunnen aan de grens gecontroleerd worden. Owee als je de code niet wilt geven.

Nu worden de Amerikanen opgeroepen om "anti-christian" gedrag van hun medeburgers te rapporteren. Daaronder valt: elk woord van kritiek tegen Trump, maar in het algemeen kan zowat alles daaronder vallen.

Religieus fanatisme, en verbod op kritiek op het regime? Niet enkel in Saoudi-Arabië, Iran, Turkije e.d. Nu ook in de US.

The veterans affairs department (VA) is ordering staff to report colleagues for instances of “anti-Christian bias” to a newly established taskforce, as part of Donald Trump’s push to reshape government policy on religious expression.

The VA secretary, Doug Collins, in an internal email seen by the Guardian, said the department had launched a taskforce to review the Joe Biden administration’s “treatment of Christians”.

“The VA taskforce now requests all VA employees to submit any instance of anti-Christian discrimination to Anti-ChristianBiasReporting.@va.gov,” the email reads. “Submissions should include sufficient identifiers such as names, dates, and locations.”

The email states that the department will review “all instances of anti-Christian bias” but that it is specifically seeking instances including “any informal policies, procedures, or unofficially understandings hostile to Christian views”.

In addition, the department is seeking “any adverse responses to requests for religious exemptions under the previous vaccine mandates” and “any retaliatory actions taken or threatened in response to abstaining from certain procedures or treatments (for example: abortion or hormone therapy)”.

Donald Trump signed an executive order within weeks of his second term aimed at ending the “anti-Christian weaponization of government”, and announced the formation of a taskforce, led by the attorney general, Pam Bondi, to end all forms of “anti-Christian targeting and discrimination” in the government.
